The Royal College of Art has secured 10 places on the UK Border Agency’s Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) scheme, which allows entrepreneurial graduates with world-class innovative ideas to stay in the UK after graduation to develop their businesses, initially for 12 months.
As a higher education institution in the Highly Trusted Sponsor category, the RCA will be able to sponsor outstanding graduating students who win a place in its InnovationRCA Incubator. This will allow the graduates to develop their businesses in the UK for 12 months, and the stay may be extended for a further 12 months, as long as the RCA is satisfied with the progress the business makes during incubation. Successful graduates may also be able to sponsor dependents, if they meet the Tier 1 maintenance requirements.
The InnovationRCA Incubator provides business support and seed funding to the best design/technology start-ups formed by RCA or RCA/Imperial College graduates to transform their early ideas into businesses that attract outside investment. The start date for applications to join the InnovationRCA Incubator is 20 June 2012 and the closing date is 6 August 2012. Recent start-ups to leave the InnovationRCA Incubator include SeaLabs and Made in Mind.
To find out how to apply to the Incubator, please keep watching for further announcements from InnovationRCA.
