Amanprit Sandhu on what she's been up to since she finished her work-based MA up in Liverpool.
In July, I completed my MA in Curating Contemporary Art (work based). Eleven weeks on, this is a quick summary of what has happened so far.
The Tree of California
After graduation I took a much needed holiday in California and travelled down the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Jeff Koons, Balloon Animals, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Collection
I even managed to get my art fix at LACMA. Look out for the Pacific Standard Time exhibition which opens across Southern California at the end of September: http://www.pacificstandardtime.org
View of the Three Graces, Liverpool
I'm reaching the end of my time in Liverpool which has been my home for two years. So I'm finally doing some sightseeing – I'm going to miss Liverpool!
Portrait of artist Jeanne van Heeswijk, outside the 2Up 2Down project hub, Anfield, Liverpool
I'm completing the last month of my two year placement at the Liverpool Biennial, and in the process of finishing writing funding proposals for 2Up 2Down. For this important and innovative project, the Biennial have commissioned Dutch artist Jeanne van Heeswijk to work with a group of 40 young people in the Anfield/Breckfield area of North Liverpool to design and build a small housing unit which will be set up as a self-build/collective ownership model. Further information can be found here. Get in touch if you want to support the project or want to know more!
Lastly, I'm also working on my own online project called Collections of Becoming. The project will form part of the wider programme of activities that will coincide with the Museum Show at the Arnolfini, Bristol opening at the end of September. More about that in my next entry... watch this space...
