Tips for graduating art and design students - Robin Levien RDI

Nine Royal Designers for Industry (RDIs) visited the RCA Kensington Show on 26 June 2013, accompanied by Melanie Andrews, RDI Manager at the RSA. They were: Mike Dempsey (graphics), Jenny Frean (textiles), Malcolm Garrett (graphics/interaction design), Peter Higgins (interiors/exhibitions), Sarah King (textiles), Robin Levien (ceramics/products), Tim Macfarlane (engineering/materials - glass), Mark Major (designing with light), Mary Restieaux (textiles). RDIs have mentored RCA alumni on a range of professional development issues for several years.

For recent graduates there are RDI Winter Workshops to help with career decisions in the months after the Show. A year after graduation, alumni can apply for more in-depth, one-to-one mentoring with participating RDIs. Info and application form: fuel.rca.ac.uk/services/rdi

During the RDI Show Visit, Royal Designers Mike Dempsey and Robin Levien gave their top tips on next steps for graduating students, as did the RCA's Professor Dale Harrow, Dean of Design and Professor Clare Johnston, Head of Textiles.
